Remember, the legal process for buying in France is different from many other countries. The process can be complicated and we recommend that you take professional advice. The VEF Group’s in-house Language and Law department provide a unique service – the Purchase Package - to make sure your property adventure doesn’t turn into a misadventure.

The Purchase Package is not part of our general advisory service but is provided by VEF’s in-house Language and Law team who are trained in French Law. They will liaise with the notaire in France (the legal conveyancer of property), translate and interpret key documents, work on inheritance issues, planning permissions, liaise with the estate agent to arrange for utility services to be reconnected, and liaise with our mortgage brokers and currency specialists should you choose them to make sure payments are made on time. In short, the team oversees the purchase right from the beginning up to the signing of the final contract. This completely comprehensive package is £2,500 + VAT.

To offer even more choice, we also provide certain elements of the package separately for those who may already have professional-level help in certain areas of the purchase:

The à la carte VEF Language and Law service

  • Check the compromis de vente with annexes and report to you. With translation: £500 + VAT
  • Check the compromis de vente with annexes and report to you. Without translation: £350 + VAT
  • Any issues that arise from the compromis and require extra work will be charged at an hourly rate of £190 + VAT
  • Liaise with the notaire to provide information on French inheritance laws according to your personal circumstances: £500 + VAT
  • Notify the notaire of your choice of inheritance and request him to draft the required documents with translation: £500 + VAT
  • Notify the notaire of your choice of inheritance and request him to draft the required documents without translation: £50 + VAT
  • Translation of Power of Attorney: £50 + VAT
  • Check and summarize the final deed in English: £500 + VAT
